What a weekend it will be too. If your local parade isn’t enough excitement for you, with all those tractors and flat-bed trailers, there’s the small matter on Saturday of Ireland taking on England for the Grand Slam. A green-letter day if there ever was one and a great day to be a proud Irishman or Irishwoman!

St Patrick’s weekend always gives us a chance to have a few laughs – last year we all got kitted out in some lovely Shamrock-themed suits – and this year we will raise glass or two of something Guinness-flavoured to mark the occasion.

We also have some fabulous green gear available online and in the shop including green polo shirts by Gant, green jackets by Farah and some green tees from Superdry. We even have some smart green flatcaps, the perfect accessory for your St. Patrick’s Day outfit. Right, that’s the advert done!

Pride is something I’ve been thinking about lately. We’re a proud Irish business, employing 27 people in our store and our national online brand ejmenswear.com, right here in our hometown of Sligo.

I was proud too to get a nice reaction from people to a recent interview I did in the business section of the Sunday Times. The article covered a lot of personal background as well as the big milestones in Ej’s lifetime like buying our building from a bank and surviving the worst recession in living memory! I enjoyed my chat with the journalist Sandra O’Connell.

People can be very kind and, luckily, the comments and texts I received about the article were all positive, from the many people who support us week in, week out. As we celebrate our national day, I’m proud of all my customers and I’m proud to lead such a great team here at EJ’s.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day everyone. Lá Fhéile Pádraig Sona Duit!
