Must Have Men’s Polos At EJ Menswear
Every man should have a few polos in their wardrobe. It’s underrated as one of the most versatile items someone can have – it’s as easy to smarten up under a good blazer as it is to pair with joggers for a lazy day on the sofa.
If you watch our videos on socials, you’ll know the team usually wears a fresh polo shirt, and you should, too. With top deals on names including Lyle & Scott, XV Kings, Remus Uomo & BOSS, shop our range today and get a great deal on designer polos.
What makes for a good men’s polo shirt?
There are a few things to look out for to know if you’re getting a decent polo shirt. Firstly, the fit of the polo needs to sit light on the shoulders and have a subtle taper around the lower back – you never want a loose-fitting polo that looks misshapen.
You’ll want to check the collar and sleeves. Some cheaper brands with cuffed/stitch detailing on the sleeves can either have that muscle-fit look or, again, be loose. We always recommend going for a polo that feels it’s just on the cusp of being snug without feeling noticeable.
Finally, have a good check of the lapels on the collar. Poor quality and tailoring can see the edges turn up and fray outwards, even when ironed, which pulls the neck out with it.
What brands make the best men’s polos?
We are very particular about the polos we stock. That’s why there are only a few brands we believe hit all those features mentioned above. Ralph Lauren will never let you down & some of their long-sleeved knit polos are ideal when worn under gilets. BOSS polos are, to many people, the standard for what men’s designer polos should be. Their tipped-collar polos are always a top seller throughout the year.
What type of polo should I wear under a blazer?
If you’re attempting to look smart with a polo under a blazer – be it for a summer wedding or date out and about- we recommend keeping your tones muted.
While a loud bright blue or green polo does well on its own, it can suffer under a light grey/black/navy jacket. We recommend opting for complimentary colours when wearing a polo this way, and watch out for white polos. The tuck can sometimes not sit how you hope when paired with a suit and tucked in.
If you need help with this, feel free to come to the shop and we’ll help you find your ideal outfit.
How much should I pay for a designer men’s polo shirt?
A good starting point for a designer polo is around the €70-€80 mark. If you’re keen on a good deal, give our Mix & Match bundle builder a go. It’s your chance to save when buying a new polo and jeans, or shirt and trousers. The options are endless!
